FIFA is currently being petitioned to look into the contentious penalty awarded to Portugal by referee Ismail Elfath, which sparked a public outcry.
As many Ghanaians and football fans from around the world, including some soccer experts like Mike Dean, an EPL referee, believed, it was a call for the penalty, plus an offside second goal was permitted, not to mention Alidu Seidu receiving a questionable yellow card.
It appears that referee Ismail Elfath made poor choices when it mattered the most, which also discouraged the Blackstars team’s players.
Unexpectedly, despite the players’ pleas for the referee to check the VAR and reevaluate his contentious decision, Ismail Elfath chose not to do so.
It is reasonable to ask FIFA to investigate referee Ismail Elfath’s performance.
FIFA has made investments in technology to raise the caliber of decisions, and not for nothing.
Dear @FIFAcom, this is a public protest asking you to review and suspend this referee, Ismail Elfath.
He’s an apology of a referee and shouldn’t be doing this at this level. Game changing decisions without remorse. pic.twitter.com/Emj319cyIO
