Former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei, has been installed as the Safohen of Nkum Asafo Group No. 4.

In a video circulating online, Charlotte, dressed as a Queen Mother, introduced herself with her stool name, Safohen Nana Ama Kesson.

Wielding a whip to symbolise her leadership, she will lead Nkum Asafo Group 4 as a warrior at the Fetu Oguaa Afahye Festival in September.

The Fetu Afahye Festival, a week-long celebration in September, attracts both residents and foreigners.

During this period, drumming, dancing, noise-making, and fishing in the Fosu Lagoon are prohibited.

The paramount priest spends a week in isolation to seek divine instruction before the ceremony begins. Following this, the chief pours a libation for Nana Fosu (the deity) and casts his net three times into the lagoon to officially resume fishing.

The festivities in Charlotte Osei’s hometown conclude with a march around the community, filled with dancing and celebrations.
