A devastating fire swept through a two-storey hostel at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Thursday night, shocking and distressing students.
The blaze destroyed the entire second floor of the nine-bedroom building, leaving students homeless and reducing their belongings to ashes.
the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Fire Service, DO3 Peter Addai informed Citi News that investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
He also pointed out that eleven rooms escaped the blaze and remain usable.
In response, the Students Representative Council (SRC) has arranged temporary accommodation for the displaced students at the SRC hostel and is stressing the importance of safety protocols to prevent future incidents.
