Everton have parted ways with manager Sean Dyche, bringing an end to his nearly two-year spell at Goodison Park.
The club made the announcement just hours before their FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough, appointing Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman as interim managers.
Dyche, 53, departs with Everton sitting in 16th place in the Premier League, only one point above the relegation zone. A 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, where Everton failed to record a shot on target, summed up a disappointing season in which the Toffees won just three of their 19 league matches.
Dyche arrived in January 2023 to replace Frank Lampard and avoid relegation. He successfully secured survival in his first season and guided the team to a 15th-place finish in 2023-24, despite an eight-point deduction. However, his side struggled offensively, scoring only 15 goals this season.
The decision to part ways with Dyche follows a review by Everton’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, who completed their £400m takeover last month. With the club set to move to Bramley-Moore Dock next season, the focus now shifts to finding a long-term solution for the future.
