Artiste Manager and Entertainment Critic, Mr Logic, has taken a bold stand in defense of former Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Madam Cecilia Dapaah, amidst allegations of theft and public backlash. Mr Logic, known for his candid opinions and fearless statements, has condemned those who labeled Madam Dapaah as a thief, asserting that the accusations were unfair and myopic.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on July 22, Mr Logic emphasized that it was not unreasonable for a person of Madam Dapaah’s stature to possess $1 million at home. He argued that her wealth was earned honestly and not necessarily acquired through illicit means, as some members of the public had presumed.
“The woman is not a thief; it is her own money that people have stolen, and she wanted to be honest because she is a public official so she stepped down for investigations. I don’t see why people should think that it is outrageous for her to have that money. I see it like a bit myopic to think that way, so please I don’t support those who are saying she stole the money,” Mr Logic passionately stated.
He further defended Madam Dapaah’s willingness to cooperate with the authorities during the investigation, which unfortunately got misconstrued and led to her resignation. According to Mr Logic, the former minister’s intentions were genuine, but the court of public opinion had painted her in a negative light.
“The woman offered to help with the investigation, and people still assumed the worst of her. Instead of understanding her honesty, they used it against her. It’s unfair how she’s being treated,” Mr Logic asserted.
Madam Cecilia Dapaah’s resignation from her post was announced in a letter issued and signed on Saturday, July 22, 2023. The decision came after her house helps and several others were implicated in a court case for allegedly stealing $1 million, €300,000, and millions of cedis from her Ablekuma residence.
Mr Logic condemned the rush to judgment and the tendency to label individuals as thieves solely based on their wealth. He urged the public to be more open-minded and refrain from making baseless accusations against public officials.
“If someone wants to save his or her money at home, whether the money is for a project or family money or something, you don’t know, then all of a sudden, all of you are tagging her as a thief. I posted that people should look for their own money and stop criticizing others’ wealth, come and see insults on my page, I had to turn off the comment session,” Mr Logic shared his frustration with the harsh backlash he faced after expressing his support for Madam Dapaah.
In conclusion, Mr Logic’s stance highlights the importance of due process and avoiding hasty judgments. While the former minister’s situation is under investigation, branding her as a thief without concrete evidence is unjust. As public figures, it is essential to maintain a fair and balanced perspective, understanding that wealth does not equate to criminality. The focus should be on uncovering the truth through proper channels rather than resorting to presumptive labeling and criticism.
