The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG),Enoch Adejare Adeboye has apologised for his previous statement that Christians who do not pay tithes would not enter heaven.
Speaking to his congregation on October 3, Pastor Adeboye acknowledged the mistake he made during a speech at the RCCG Youth Convention. He clarified that the Bible teaches peaceful and holy living as the true requirement for reaching heaven.
“I apologise for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ That’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible,” The Bible says, ‘Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see God.’ It’s possible to be right and wrong at the same time.”he said.
His apology comes after significant social media backlash over his earlier claim that paying tithes was necessary for salvation.
