President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his well wishes to Ghanaian Muslims for Eid-ul-Adha and urged citizens to embrace peaceful coexistence through a Facebook post.
He wrote,
“As you gather with family and friends to mark this sacred day, may this day inspire us all to engender peace, love, and mutual respect within our communities.”
His excellency further emphasized the importance of working together to build a prosperous and harmonious Ghana since this significant occasion commemorates the steadfast faith and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim and reminds citizens of the values of devotion, compassion, and unity.
Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid-ul-Adha in remembrance of the Prophet’s sacrifice, which demonstrated his strong faith in Allah.
The Quran, in Surah As-Saffat (37:102), notes that Allah was so pleased with the Prophet’s willingness to sacrifice his son that He made this act of devotion a permanent part of a Muslim’s life.
Every year, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with prayers and the slaughtering of a lamb, sheep, goat, and camel to honor the Prophet’s good deeds.
