ECG Cuts Off Accra Sports Stadium Due To A Debt Of GH¢400,000.

Written by Louis

The Accra Sports Stadium’s electricity has been cut off by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) due to a GH¢400,000 deficit owed to the nation’s power provider.

The separation was completed on Monday night as workers diligently prepared the venue for Friday’s Olympic football qualifying match between Ghana’s Black Queens and Zambia’s women’s national team, which is a Paris 2024 qualifier.

Due to its debt, ECG has already turned off the stadium’s electricity.

The National Task Force of ECG cut off the stadium’s electricity supply in March 2022 due to a GH¢508,000.00 debt.

Similar outcomes have already befallen other establishments under the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) supervision.

The Northern Electricity Distribution Business (NEDCo) cut off the power to Tamale’s Aliu Mahama Stadium in April 2023 because the stadium owed the business GH¢466,000.

The Accra Sports Stadium will host all of the men’s football action at the 2023 African Games, which are scheduled to begin on March 8, in addition to Friday’s pivotal Olympic qualifier.

In addition, the arena will host two more events: sambo and wrestling.
