Jean Adukwei Mensa, Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC), reaffirmed that the commission holds no authority to determine election results.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, September 20, after revealing the approved presidential candidates, she stated,
“The EC has confirmed 13 candidates for the December 7 presidential election. It is not within our power to decide election winners. Only the citizens have that authority.”
A previous statement noted,
“Following the successful nomination process from September 9 to 13, 2024, the Commission conducted a thorough review of the candidates’ forms to ensure compliance with legal requirements.”
Further, Mensa reiterated that the outcome rests entirely with the voters who will cast their ballots in the election.
