The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the National Democratic Congress that it will re-exhibit the revised Provisional Voters Register online before printing the final version for the 2024 general elections.
This assurance follows a nationwide protest by the NDC, dubbed ‘Enough is Enough,’ which called for corrections to discrepancies in the provisional register and a forensic audit of the EC’s IT system.
During the demonstration, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah presented a petition to the EC, voicing concerns about illegal voter transfers, missing names, incomplete data, and weaknesses in the IT system. In response, the EC acknowledged these concerns and confirmed its commitment to re-exhibit the PVR.
Although the Commission is willing to conduct a physical exhibition at more than 40,000 centres, it cited time constraints, noting that printing and distributing the corrected register would take approximately four weeks, rendering it impractical with the election date fast approaching.
Instead, the EC plans to implement an online exhibition of the PVR at no cost to registered voters, allowing them to report discrepancies within a specified timeframe.
