The Electoral Commission (EC) has disqualified several presidential candidates from the December 7, 2024 elections for failing to correct errors on their nomination forms.
During a press briefing in Accra, the EC Chairperson Jean Mensa explain that it gave all disqualified aspirants ample time to address the identified issues, but they failed to meet the necessary requirements.
The EC disqualify Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) , Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP), Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, Nii Amu Darko, Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) from the race.
Further, the EC emphasised that the disqualifications adhered strictly to electoral regulations, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the process.
Thus, failed to submit a tax certificate for vice presidential candidate, incomplete information about supporters, supporters’ registration details from incorrect districts and for failing to obtain vice presidential candidate’s signature on the nomination form.
