The Minister of Health, Dr Bernard Oko Boye, recently informed Parliament that the government has allocated $312 million to contractors for the Agenda 111 hospital projects across the country.
During his appearance before the Assurances Committee of Parliament, Dr Oko Boye reported that the managing group, Hospital Infrastructure, has achieved various stages of progress, from 5% to over 80% despite facing challenges with land acquisition, architectural issues, and project locations.
Further, the Minister assured Parliament that the government will make more than 28 facilities operational by the end of 2024, though specifics may vary.
According to him, although none of these projects are complete, the initiative now includes two psychiatric hospitals and one national psychiatric hospital; raising the total to 114 facilities will create over 60,000 jobs.
