Chairman of Groupe Nduom and owner of GN Bank, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has asked NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama to help restore his bank.
This appeal comes as discussions continue about the challenges in Ghana’s banking sector and the need for strategic measures to revive struggling institutions.
Dr Nduom has underscored GN Bank’s vital role in providing financial services to underserved and rural communities, asserting that its commitment to financial inclusion makes it a crucial asset to Ghana’s economy.
He has urged Mahama to leverage his influence and experience to support policies and actions that would enable the bank to resume full operations.
Dr Nduom has emphasised the need for a joint effort involving the Bank of Ghana, government agencies, and the private sector to develop a comprehensive revival plan for GN Bank.
He expressed concern over the deteriorating state of 300 of the bank’s branches nationwide and the economic damage of losing such a significant financial entity.
Dr. Nduom said;
“If this administration does not grant us our license and begin repayment before leaving, we hope the next administration will understand the situation and restore the license.
Additionally, we are preparing and planning with the hope that we will eventually regain the license and bring back the jobs,” said Dr. Nduom.
Furthermore, Mahama has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its decision to revoke the licenses of several local financial institutions during the 2019 banking sector cleanup, calling it a hasty measure.
