Dr Mahamudu Bawumia Unveils “Buy Ghana First” Policy Plans

The presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,has provided details about his ‘Buy Ghana First’ policy, which he plans to implement if elected.

Addressing community leaders in Accra, Dr Bawumia explained that this policy is design to boost support for local industries and the private sector.

That is, Ghanaians should purchase goods that can be source within Ghana locally to support Ghanaian industries, stimulate the private sector, and create jobs.

In contrast, he also criticised the current practice of importing school uniforms and furniture from China and pledged that his policy would put an end to such imports.

Moreover, Dr Bawumia also outlined additional policies, including a new tax system with amnesty and a flat tax rate, strengthening the gold-for-oil initiative, introducing solar energy to cut power costs, deploying electric buses for public transport, reforming mining regulations to support small-scale miners and ensure responsible practices, and training one million youth in ICT for digital jobs both locally and abroad.
