Flagbearer for the National Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has proposed that 10 percent of cadet students be allocated spots for recruitment into various security services upon completing their education.
The vice president made these remarks during the 64th Republic Day celebrations and the 70th anniversary of the cadet corps in Ghana.
In his address, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of security agencies recognizing and cultivating talented individuals, such as those in the national cadet corps and other volunteer groups, by offering them recruitment opportunities.
He asserted that this would significantly enhance the services’ manpower, discipline, and the valuable knowledge acquired through cadet training.
Additionally, he has proposed that July 1 be designated as a national youth day in Ghana.
Dr Bawumia believes this initiative will help address the manpower needs of the country’s security agencies.
