Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has officially inaugurated the Royal Ghana Gold Refinery in Accra to boost the country’s refinery system.
At the ceremony on August 8, 2024, Dr Bawumia praised this achievement as a major milestone in Ghana’s economic transformation and industrialization.
He underscored the refinery’s role in demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing the value of the nation’s natural resources, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable economic growth.
He also highlighted that the partnership between the Government of Ghana, the Bank of Ghana, and Rosy Royal Minerals Limited envisions a prosperous future for the precious minerals industry.
This state-of-the-art facility refines 400 kilograms of dore gold daily, processing Ghana’s entire annual gold export over 300 working days.
The refinery purifies gold to 24 carats with 99.99% purity, meeting LBMA standards. It will create 80 to 120 direct jobs and about 500 indirect jobs while boosting domestic tax revenue through corporate taxes.
