President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Johnson Asiamah as the next Governor of the Bank of Ghana, pending approval by the Council of State.
This follows a formal request from the current governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, to take leave ahead of his retirement on March 31, 2025.
Dr Asiamah, who served as the Bank’s Second Deputy Governor from 2016 to 2017, holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Southampton, UK.
With more than 23 years of experience at the bank, he has developed expertise in monetary policy, financial stability, and economic research.
Dr Asiamah has consistently worked to strengthen Ghana’s financial system, advance sound monetary policies, and drive the country’s economic growth.
