Dr Bawumia Promises To Lower Public Transportation Costs

NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to reduce public transportation costs if elected president in the December elections.

At the NPP manifesto launch on August 18, he outlined his plan, including the introduction of the first batch of electric vehicles (EVs) in Ghana by the end of 2024 to promote sustainability and cost-effectiveness in transportation.

Further, Dr Bawumia emphasised his commitment to supporting EVs for public transport, stating,

“We will reduce public transportation costs by promoting and supporting electric vehicles.” Additionally, we will expand the Gold-For-Oil Programme (G4O) to stabilise fuel prices.”

Additionally,he also unveiled the Flat Rate Duties for All Importers policy, which aims to stabilise and predict the prices of imported spare parts and to reduce maintenance costs for public transportation vehicles and, consequently, lower fares for passengers.
