Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,has donated 250 packets of roofing sheets, totalling 5,000 pieces, and ridge caps to help traders affected by the recent fire at Kantamanto Market.
In a viral video, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, the former Greater Accra Regional Minister, and his team presented the donation on Dr Bawumia’s behalf, aiming to support the traders in rebuilding their businesses.
“I want to remind the traders of the vice president’s advice during his visit—that they must take insurance seriously. Given the increasing frequency of fires, it’s essential that they have insurance coverage for their businesses. Security is also crucial,”
Further, he also revealed that Dr Bawumia had promised to provide CCTV cameras to enhance security at the market once reconstruction is complete, referring to them as “the silent police” to monitor market activities.
Earlier, Dr. Bawumia had already contributed GH¢200,000 to assist the traders in their recovery.
