Finance Minister,Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has urged media owners to offer better salary for journalists in the industry.
At the Northern Regional Ghana Journalists Association Awards on September 14 in Tamale, Dr Amin Adam voiced concern over the insufficient rewards for journalists, despite their vital role in communicating public messages and informing citizens about government policies. He called on media proprietors to improve journalists’ compensation.
“I urge media owners to ensure that journalists are fairly rewarded for their important contributions to our society,” he stated.
Further, he stressed that fair compensation is crucial for maintaining journalists’ professionalism and independence. While recognising the challenging economic conditions, Dr Amin Adam highlighted the significant recovery in the economy.
