Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for making significant progress in Ghana’s education sector.
Speaking at the inauguration of 80 newly constructed educational facilities nationwide, Dr. Adutwum highlighted the transformative initiatives the NPP has implemented since taking office in 2017.
He praised the government’s efforts to modernise educational infrastructure and promote academic excellence, emphasising that these improvements are central to the NPP’s vision for national development. He pointed out that the new facilities create equitable and effective learning environments, which are critical for fostering progress.
“We cannot achieve 21st-century outcomes while teaching students in 19th-century buildings. These smiles on the children’s faces today reflect the positive impact of these changes,” Dr. Adutwum stated.
Further, he also drew comparisons to South Korea’s educational and economic successes, urging Ghana to take inspiration from their approach.
“In 1960, Ghana’s per capita income was higher than South Korea’s. But they made bold investments in secondary education in the 1960s and 1970s and prioritised STEM education in the 1970s,” We may be 50 years behind, but we have started the journey, and soon the results of Ghana’s STEM transformation will be evident.” He explained
