DKB Reveals Unsuccessful Attempt to Meet Akuffo-Addo

Written by Sarah Boye

Ghanaian comedian DKB, better known as Derrick Kobina Bonney, recently shared how he failed to meet President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In an interview on Joy FM, DKB said his request to visit the President at the Flagstaff House didn’t go through and blamed those responsible for arranging the meeting.

“I wanted to visit Nana Addo at the Flagstaff House, but it didn’t work out. I’m not sure why, but the people involved didn’t make it happen,” he said.

Despite this setback, DKB proudly highlighted that he is the only comedian who has performed for all of Ghana’s presidents.

He fondly recalled former President John Mahama repeating two of his jokes on stage, an experience that thrilled him.

“It was a pleasant and shocking surprise when John Mahama repeated two of my jokes on stage. I couldn’t sleep that night. He’s captured my heart, and now I consider myself a presidential comedian,” DKB said.

DKB also emphasised that Mahama’s recognition of his comedy remains one of the greatest endorsements of his career. He pledged to campaign for Mahama in return for this honour.
