The Surgery Department at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced the suspension of elective surgeries until further notice.
According to a statement, persistent lift problems in the surgical block have forced the hospital to stop using the lifts completely.
This has severely impacted the hospital’s ability to perform surgeries by preventing the movement of patients between floors.
Further, management has stated that patients can still schedule non-emergency procedures in advance, but the department will focus solely on emergencies to maintain critical care.
