Defence Minister-designate Dr Edward Omane Boamah has committed to ensuring fairness and regional balance in the recruitment process for the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services.
During his appearance before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on January 28, he emphasised the importance of establishing an equitable system that addresses geographical disparities in both military recruitment and medical evaluations.
“I am a strong advocate for equity, and we will ensure all recruitment procedures align with these principles. For example, how does someone from the Upper West region go through medical assessments? The same applies to someone from the Upper East. In Accra, candidates have the advantage of the 37 Military Hospital nearby. We will review all equity measures to ensure regional fairness,” he stated.
Ultimately, Dr Omane Boamah aims to create a transparent and inclusive recruitment process that guarantees equal opportunities for all candidates, irrespective of their location.
Thus, his approach promises to ensure a fairer and more balanced recruitment system for the Ghana Armed Forces and security services.
