Award-winning artist Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has hinted at leaving his first child, Imade, in the custody of her mother, Sophia Momodu.
This decision follows a counter affidavit by Momodu, who claims Davido is unfit to care for their daughter.
On Friday, July 5, Momodu’s lawyers responded to Davido’s earlier suit, arguing that his home is unsafe for Imade due to the tragic death of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2022.
This incident was part of her evidence against Davido’s custody. The circulating document states,
“The applicant cannot properly care for our daughter due to his controversial lifestyle (negative media attention), which would expose her to more trauma at a young age. The applicant’s loss of his son in unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows our daughter cannot be placed in his custody.”
Responding to Momodu’s claims on X, Davido expressed that his son’s death continues to haunt him and voiced his bitterness at Momodu for bringing up the tragedy in the custody case.
