Wendy Shay believes that the exorbitant cost of data prevents Ghanaians from streaming their songs online.
Because their primary followers have restricted Internet connection, the bulk of Ghanaian artists do not receive as many streams as their international counterparts, claims the singer.
According to Wendy Shay, who expressed her opinion on why streaming platforms in the nation saw limited usage, Ghanaians are discouraged from streaming music due to the high cost of bandwidth there.
She said that her analysis revealed that most nations have lower data costs than Ghana.
“I now understand that data in Ghana is really pricey. After doing some investigation, I discovered that East African nations have lower data costs. You can see how many streams they have by visiting their YouTube channel and other streaming websites.
“I believe that as celebrities, we should determine the best course of action to take.
Even outsiders have expressed concern about this issue frequently, so we must utilize our influence to address it.
That is why many Ghanaian musicians don’t currently have as many music streams as they have in other African nations, she explained to Nana Romeo of Accra FM.
Wendy Shay is all set for theb2nd edition of her Shay Concert at the West Hills Mall, Accra.
