The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has seized 53 pistols, 65 rounds of live ammunition, 74 magazines, and a PC holster at the Golden Jubilee Terminal in Tema Port.

Officials found the weapons hidden in a 40-foot container labelled as carrying vehicles and personal effects.Customs officials flagged the container, numbered MEDU4496951, during a routine inspection on November 15, 2024, after its arrival from the United States.

Customs officers discovered the contraband concealed in three suitcases during the inspection, conducted in the presence of the importer’s agent and representative. The Customs team immediately notified the GRA’s Intelligence and Investigations Unit and the Preventive Unit, who confirmed the discovery and confiscated the items.

Authorities detained all other goods in the container for further examination. They also arrested the agent and the consignee’s representative and transferred them to the Marine and Railway Police Station in Tema for further investigation.
