A court has granted Oliver Barker-Vormawor, convener of the Democracy Hub protest, bail of GH¢20,000 with two sureties after his recent arrest.
According to reports, he faces multiple charges, including stealing, unlawful assembly, unlawful damage, assaulting a public officer, and offensive conduct likely to disturb public peace.
Initially, the Accra Circuit Court denied his bail, and an appeal to the High Court led to his remand.
His lawyers reapplied for bail at the High Court, which the judge then approved. However, Barker-Vormawor must report to the police twice a week.
Police arrested him and 52 others on September 23, 2024, for allegedly causing public disturbances during the Democracy Hub protest.
