The High Court in Accra has granted bail of GHc 50,000 each to Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, the parents of Elrad Amoako, whose actions led to a crash that resulted in two fatalities in East Legon.
During the prosecution’s presentation, the couple admitted that they allowed their child, the suspect, to drive to the gym and other locations. This admission followed the revelation that Linda Bempah provided the keys to the Jaguar, owned by Mouha Amoako, to Elrad.
Thereafter, lawyers for the accused prayed the court to grant them bail as they have fixed places of abode, gainfully employed, known in society and will make themselves available for trial since accused have no intention of committing further offences or interfering with the investigation.
The lawyers emphasised that the charges against them are misdemeanors. While the prosecution did not oppose the bail application, it requested strict bail conditions.
The court also approved bail for a third accused individual, Linda Bempah, whom the prosecution identified as a sales assistant at Lilo Stitches, owned by the suspect’s brother.
Police arrested Salifu and Mouha Amoako on Tuesday, and they appeared in court on Wednesday to face charges of permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
