Head of Public Affairs at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Gilbert Nii Ankrah, has announced the closure of all shops in Accra’s Central Business District on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Mr. Ankrah highlighted that several markets including Sempe, Gbese, Abola, Asere, Dogo Beach, Otublohum, Akumanjen, Ngleshie, and June 4th Market, have already undergone cleaning.

The CBD will undergo its cleanup exercise, necessitating the temporary closure of shops to facilitate participation.

This initiative follows the Homowo clean-up campaign initiated by the Ga Traditional Council, led by Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, in collaboration with governmental bodies such as the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC), Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, Ministry of Interior, local government authorities, and Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
