On Friday, the Accra Circuit Court Two denied bail to two individuals accused of stealing money, electronics, and other items from the widow of former Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah.

According to reports, Trader Adams Sanogo and fugitive Kwame Dunga allegedly conspired to steal $50,000, GH¢50,000 an iPhone 15 Pro Max valued at GHc15,000, an Apple iPad worth GHc15,000, a Samsung Z Fold phone worth GHc12,000, a Microsoft laptop valued at GHc7,000, a school bag worth GHc400, and an Apple Watch from Reverend Lillian Kumah, whose husband, a former MP for Ejisu, passed away in February.

At the court, Assistant Superintendent of Police Raymond Ackom stated that Reverend Lillian Kumah, residing in Achimota-Mile 7, Accra, reported the theft on December 29, 2023, providing CCTV footage as evidence.

He told the court that the police arrested the suspect in the Ashanti Region and, upon interrogation, Sanogo admitted to selling the phone to Falilu and implicated Dunga as his accomplice.

Furthermore, a police investigation on July 24, 2024, led to Falilu’s arrest in possession of the stolen iPhone in Jamasi, Ashanti Region.

However, both suspects denied the charges, and the court remanded them in custody.

Moreover, Presiding Judge Isaac Addo denied their bail request, made by defense counsel Benjamin Ofori, and scheduled their next court appearance for August 7, 2024.
