Chelsea have extended the contract of 18-year-old defender Josh Acheampong, securing his services until 2029.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who has long admired Acheampong, shared his excitement about the extension ahead of the Europa Conference League clash with Shamrock Rovers.
“I’m very, very happy. With Josh, it was clear from pre-season. I didn’t know him personally at first, but within two or three days, he really impressed me,” Maresca said.
Although negotiations between Chelsea and Acheampong had been lengthy, with talks stalling at one point, the young defender has now committed his future to the club.
On December 12, his hard work paid off when he earned a first-team start in the Conference League match against Astana, highlighting his progress and consistency.
