Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has revealed that the renovation of the Parliamentary Chamber will cost the Ghanaian government approximately €2.26 million.
During the project inspection, Bagbin clarify that Parliament adjourn its sessions to accelerate the renovation.
He pointed out that the renovation, expected to last about three months, presents several challenges the House has been grappling with, including issues with voting, maintaining quorum, and malfunctioning audiovisual systems.
Further, Bagbin also noted that in 2014, former Speaker Doe Adjaho contracted Bosch DICENTIS Multimedia Company to transform the House into an e-Parliament, aiming to reduce costs associated with bulk printing and paperwork.
However, former Speaker Prof. Mike Ocquaye revised the project and decided to install biometric devices in the Chamber. This decision led to a competitive process, resulting in Michel Africa Parliament Services winning the contract.
