The Centre for Communication and Culture has launched the maiden edition of the Onyimpon Awards at the Tourist Information Centre in Accra.
In an address, the Executive Director of the Centre, Mr. Enimil Ashon, highlighted that the awards aim to recognise lifetime achievers in the arts and cultural sectors, encompassing various creative industries.
He emphasised that the Onyimpon Awards, dubbed the “mother of arts,” will honour musicians, folk and traditional artists, highlife/hip-hop/afrobeat performers, playwrights, filmmakers, weavers, architects, authors, sculptors, and painters.
The inaugural awards ceremony is scheduled for September 13, 2024.
The Onyimpon Excellence Awards is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Ghana Culture Forum.
