The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has temporarily lifted the three-year ban imposed on 26-year-old striker Solomon Safo-Taylor by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee.
The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) announced this decision in a social media post, emphasising that it enables the former Asante Kotoko and Karela United forward to resume professional football while awaiting the outcome of his appeal.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee banned Safo-Taylor on April 15, 2024, accusing him of double registration and document falsification in connection with his contract with Asante Kotoko. He officially challenged the ruling on November 6, 2024.
On December 4, 2024, CAS issued a provisional ruling in Safo-Taylor’s favor. Signed by Dr. Elisabeth Steiner, Deputy President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division, the ruling reinstates his player license and permits him to engage in football activities during the arbitration process. It also temporarily nullifies the GFA Appeals Committee’s decision to uphold the ban on May 29, 2024.
