The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially approved the Accra Sports Stadium to host Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
In a letter to the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), CAF confirmed that the match, set for Friday, October 11, 2024, is a key step in Ghana’s quest to secure a spot in the global tournament.
After a comprehensive review of reports from independent inspections of both the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadiums, CAF has granted permission for the Accra Sports Stadium to host not only the World Cup qualifier but also the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers.
Specifically, it will serve as the venue for the Group F Matchday 3 encounter between Ghana and Sudan on the same date.
Further, CAF has urged the GFA and the stadium’s management to prioritise improvements to the pitch and other critical areas to ensure a smooth experience for the teams and fans.
This approval follows a detailed inspection, confirming that the venue meets international standards for this high-stakes match.
