Ghanaian reggae musician Blakk Rasta has revealed that he received death threats after his performance at the recent Nkrumahfest concert.
In an interview on 3FM Drive, he explained that the threats came after he performed his song, “Thief President.”
“I hadn’t planned to perform the song, but the audience insisted. By evening, it had spread everywhere,” he said, noting that the song was a call for African leaders to reform.
Further, Blakk Rasta emphasised that the song was not aimed at any particular president but at all leaders guilty of greed and corruption.
“The video includes various African presidents, like Akufo-Addo and Yoweri Museveni. It’s not my place to call them thieves, but if the shoe fits, they should wear it.”
His performance at the Nkrumahfest concert, held in Nkroful on September 21, paid tribute to Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, while also delivering sharp criticism of African leaders for poor governance. In response to the threats, event organisers heightened security at his hotel.
