Former National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Anbataayela Mornah has announced his candidacy for the party’s flagbearer position.
During his announcement, Mornah expressed confidence in reversing the party’s fortunes, stating, “The PNC has always had a strong message. What we’ve lacked is the right messenger. Now, you have a messenger who understands the issues facing Ghana.”
According to him, he announced his candidature at the party’s campaign office in Accra and criticised successive governments for their poor leadership.
He stated
“since 1992, the NPP and the NDC have dominated Ghana’s political landscape, sidelining smaller parties and reducing their electoral success. In the 2020 elections, independent candidates and minor parties received only 1.3% of the vote.”
Further, Mr Mornah criticised the leadership since the Nkrumah and Limann eras and committed to delivering the change Ghanaians seek.
He proposed using local languages as mediums of instruction in schools, ensuring food security, revitalising national industries, and mobilising the nation for collective progress.
The PNC flagbearer race is likely to include Bernard Mornah, former flagbearer David Apasera, and Samson Asaki-Awingobit, though the latter two have not yet formally announced their candidatures.
