Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has again called for a presidential debate with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer.
On a recent campaign tour, Bawumia emphasised that presidential debates are a standard practice in many democracies and questioned why Mahama continues to avoid them.
He argued that Mahama’s refusal to debate reflects a lack of confidence in his policies, given his unimpressive track record as president.
Bawumia suggested that Mahama’s reluctance is due to a fear of scrutiny, asserting,
“If he believes he performed better in any area, he should accept an open debate. His avoidance shows a fear of exposure. If he agrees, I will demonstrate the difference.”
