The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has rejected claims that his presidency would allow Fulani herdsmen to destroy farmlands.
While campaigning in Ejura Sekyedumase on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Dr. Bawumia called these allegations propaganda from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He accused the opposition of spreading fear that electing him would encourage lawlessness among the Fulbe people, his in-laws.
Further, Dr. Bawumia reassured the constituents that, under his leadership, Ghana’s laws would apply equally and fairly to all citizens, regardless of background.
“The NDC is spreading false propaganda that my presidency will allow Fulanis to destroy farmlands, but that will never happen. We will not permit it,” Dr. Bawumia said. “The law will address any violations. Don’t listen to this propaganda. Anyone caught destroying farmlands will be arrested.”
Moreover, he urged voters to support his candidacy, promising development and tangible benefits for the community.
