The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has reaffirmed the party’s demand for a credible voters’ register ahead of the December 7 elections.
Addressing the crowd, he urged supporters at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra to stay resolute, insisting that only a forensic audit by the Electoral Commission (EC) can ensure transparency.
Further, he stressed the importance of their nationwide protests across all 16 regions, stating,
“We want the EC to deliver a free, fair, and transparent election, and a credible register is central to that goal.”
Moreover, Asiedu Nketiah warned that Ghana’s democracy is under threat, arguing that without transparent elections, citizens’ right to choose their leaders is at risk. He emphasised that democracy relies on the commitment of democratic-minded citizens to defend it.
The NDC’s demonstrations are part of their broader efforts to press the EC to address concerns about the electoral process.
