Asamoah Gyan, a former Ghana international, is listed on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s manifesto committee, which is led by the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 election.
Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, Gyan, has consented to head the subcommittee on “Youth and Sports” in the manifesto.
According to the NPP, Gyan will work with twenty-three other people to do “a holistic review of the party’s 2016 and 2020 manifestos to come up with a pragmatic 2024 manifesto.”
The committee aims to produce a pragmatic and forward-thinking manifesto that addresses the needs of the Ghanaian people by collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders and enlisting the advice of sector ministers.
Gyan sent a mysterious message on his X (previously Twitter) page earlier on Wednesday, February 21. This appointment tonight has provided context for the statement.
Now that the manifesto for Dr. Bawumia’s sports policy is complete, Gyan is expected to take the lead in promoting it.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been named Vice-Chairman of the Committee by the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who also named Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the departing Majority Leader in parliament, as head of the committee.
The coordinators of the manifesto committee will be Dr. Isaac Owusu Mensah and Prof. Kwaku Appiah Adu, with Evron Hughes serving as secretary.
The committee’s task is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the party’s prior platform documents from the elections of 2016 and 2020.
