Armed men disguised as police officers, suspected to be political thugs, attempted to assassinate the husband of actress Mercy Johnson, Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie, at his Uromi residence on Friday, September 20.
Reports indicate that the assailants entered his home, claiming to have an appointment, but his security team quickly intercepted them. Two attackers fled the scene, while the security team apprehended the driver and another accomplice.
During questioning, the suspects confessed that local leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Esan North East Local Government Area had sent them to kill Okojie.
Authorities are investigating the case and pursuing those responsible.
