Appiah Dankwah, also known as Appietus, a legendary Ghanaian music producer, has described how he began including his distinctive “Appietus in the Mix” in songs he produced.
When asked why he decided to add his mark to the songs he recorded during an appearance on Citi TV’s “Upside Down,” Appietus told the show’s hosts Frema Adunyame and Nana Tuffour that:
“I attended the Ghana Music Awards with my wife years ago, but I didn’t win anything…
After the event, on the drive home, my wife informed me that the only way I would also be awarded is if I infuse my signature in the songs. “Those who were awarded mostly had their signatures in the songs they had produced,” she continued.
She warned me that she would file for divorce if I didn’t put my name on all the songs I wrote. Because to her counsel, I’ve been able to win numerous prizes since then. He duped him.
Six music industry awards have now been won by the multi-award-winning music producer in the ten years since the beginning of his career.
His nickname, Appietus, became well-known thanks to the catchphrase “Appietus in the mix.” According to the seasoned music producer, the word “Appietus” was derived from the term “Appiahs’ Tools.”
More than 200 successful songs have been recorded by Appietus for the most well-known artists in the nation.
