Apostle Lamptey Questions Effectiveness Of Election Peace Treaty

Written by Sarah Boye

Apostle Abraham Lamptey, the General Overseer of the Believer’s House of Worship International, has questioned the effectiveness of political parties signing peace pacts during elections.

During an interview on 3FM, he argued that maintaining peace requires proactive measures, not just symbolic acts.

Apostle Lamptey expressed scepticism about the impact of peace pacts, stating,

“What’s the point of signing peace agreements if everyone understands the value of peace? Signing a peace pact doesn’t create peace; it’s the understanding and appreciation of peace that truly fosters it.”

Further, he emphasised that peace is not simply the absence of challenges but the awareness and knowledge of peace itself.

“Peace is not the absence of difficulties, but the recognition of your state and the understanding that God is with you, which makes everything okay,” he added.

His remarks came in response to comments made by the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who indicated that the party would not be signing any peace declaration as the country approaches the upcoming elections.
