Jazz At The Park program will feature performances by Ambolley, Pat Thomas, and others.

International Jazz Day is on April 30, and one of the celebrations taking place in Accra is the “Jazz At The Park” concert, which is being put on by the DreamChild Foundation in partnership with Virtual Hub Logistics.

The concert, which is planned to take place in the Kingdom Gardens, Ashiyie- Regimanuel Katamanso Estate, will feature performances by the bands Gyedu Blay Ambolley featuring Pat Thomas, Steve Bedi, and Miatta Fahnbulleh.

International Jazz Day was declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its General Conference in November 2011.

The main goal was to increase public awareness of jazz and its distinctive function as a means of bringing people from different cultures together. Since 2012, concerts have been performed across Ghana to commemorate the day.

The representative of UNESCO in Ghana, Mr. Abdourahamane Diallo, endorsed the upcoming Jazz At The Park event and said that his organization believes in the potential of jazz as a force for peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding.

“It is a vehicle for freedom of expression, like most, if not all genres of music, and an educational tool, a force for empathy, it improves interpersonal cooperation.”

Ambolley’s talent spans a wide range of musical genres, despite the fact that some music enthusiasts prefer to refer to him only as a Highlife musician.
