All MMDAs Chief Executives’ Appointments Revoked

President John Dramani Mahama has revoked the appointments of all Chief Executives for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

In a letter dated Wednesday, January 8, signed by the executive secretary to the president Calistus Mahama, the revocation affects both the MMDAs’ Chief Executives and the assembly members appointed under the act.

The letter also outlines interim measures, stating that the Coordinating Directors of the affected MMDAs will temporarily assume the roles of Acting Chief Executives until permanent replacements are chose .

The move is in line with President Mahama’s powers under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) and its 2017 amendment (Act 940).
