Alan Kyerematen Calls on Volta Region to Consider Him as Political Godfather and Jerry Rawlings’ Replacement

In a bid to secure the flagbearer position of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyerematen has reached out to the people of the Volta region, urging them to consider him as their next political godfather and a worthy successor to the late former president, Jerry John Rawlings. Kyerematen, who is among the ten contenders for the position, expressed his admiration for Rawlings, stating that the former president’s intelligence and bravery endeared him to not only the people of the Volta region but to the entire nation of Ghana.

Addressing a massive gathering of delegates in Ho, Kyerematen emphasized that the late former president, considered a political godfather in the Volta region, had left a void that needed to be filled. He positioned himself as the suitable candidate to step into Rawlings’ shoes and serve as a unifying figure for the region. Kyerematen conveyed his commitment to providing the Volta region with the same level of love and dedication as Rawlings had, promising to bring about development and progress.

“Even though your godfather is not here, I Alan, I am here for you always, and you must remember that Rawlings go, Allan come,” declared Kyerematen, highlighting his willingness to assume the role of a political mentor and leader for the people of the Volta region.

Kyerematen acknowledged that under normal circumstances, campaigning in the Volta region might not have been necessary for him, given his confidence in the region’s support. However, due to the competitive nature of the flagbearer race, which involved ten candidates, he found it essential to rally support from his own people.

“Under normal circumstances, I am not supposed to campaign to my own people in the region, but because it is a contest between ten of us, I have no choice than to come home and campaign,” explained Kyerematen, emphasizing the importance of engaging with the delegates to secure their votes.

Encouraging the delegates to choose a visionary leader capable of understanding the country’s needs and driving development, Kyerematen stressed that their decision would impact the lives of over six million Ghanaians. He urged them to select a candidate who reminded them of their late godfather, Rawlings.

“The decision you make will affect the lives of over 6 million people and also affect the lives of all Ghanaians. So it’s a very serious decision. Don’t just make a decision based on your own interest. Listen to what the people are telling you and make that decision,” urged Kyerematen, emphasizing the significance of their choice.

As one of the founding members of the NPP, Kyerematen expressed his belief that it was time for him to be granted the mandate to serve the country. Additionally, he pledged to secure two million votes for the NPP, ensuring a resounding victory in the upcoming 2024 elections if he were chosen as the flagbearer.

Alan Kyerematen’s outreach to the people of the Volta region signifies his aspiration to fill the void left by the late former president Jerry John Rawlings. By positioning himself as a political godfather and a successor to Rawlings, Kyerematen seeks to capture the hearts and support of the region, aiming to secure the NPP’s flagbearer position and contribute to Ghana’s development and progress.
