The flagbearer of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has expressed strong support for a forensic audit of the voters’ register, asserting that election credibility depends on the register’s integrity.

In an interview with JoyNews, he acknowledged the efforts of the Electoral Commission (EC) but emphasised the urgent need to address existing irregularities.

“The technical integrity and credibility of any election begin with the voters’ register,” he said, highlighting its importance as the foundation for both internal party and national elections.

Additionally, While praising the EC’s work, Kyerematen insisted that the commission must tackle these specific concerns.

“To ensure election integrity, the EC must respond to the identified issues. I don’t see why there should be resistance to it. If there are lingering doubts about the register, a comprehensive audit will help improve public trust in its credibility.”

His comments respond to concerns raised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has called for an independent forensic audit after uncovering anomalies during a voter exhibition exercise.

The NDC contends that these irregularities could compromise the credibility of the upcoming general elections.
