President Akuffo-Addo has defended his government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy despite concerns about its effect on educational quality.
During his speech at the Annual Ghana Bar Association Conference in Kumasi on September 9, he highlighted the policy’s benefits, such as providing opportunities for underprivileged students and significantly increasing secondary school enrollment.
Further, he recommended that critics who dislike the policy should consider private schools for their children. Nonetheless, the President reaffirmed his commitment to keeping public education free for those who cannot afford it, emphasising that public schools must remain accessible to all who need them.
